Help us meet our community goal
If we meet our community goal of 8 million minutes read, the Douglas County Libraries Foundation will donate $1,000 to the Douglas Land Conservancy, which works to protect open space from development in Douglas, Elbert and Jefferson Counties.
Help your school earn $500
Help your school earn $500. All you have to do is sign up (and remind your friends and classmates to sign up!) and be sure to include your school name and your grade when you register. The school with the most sign-ups by July 31 will be awarded $500. Award recipients announced in August. See contest rules and restrictions, and schools currently in the lead.


Sign-Up Prizes
Visit any DCL location to pick up your Summer Reading sign-up prizes, June 5-July 31 while supplies last. Summer Reading sign-up gift coupons and vouchers courtesy of Rocket Fizz and Parry’s Pizza. See coupons and vouchers for full details.
Mid-Way Prizes
Celebrate being halfway to your goal! Stop by the library for a free flying foam rocket if you’re under 13. Those over 13 can receive a coupon for a free book from any of our Second Chapter Bookstores, plus a fun vinyl decal.
Finishing Prizes
Collect a prize when you complete your challenge, or just for having a stellar summer! Kids ages 0-12 can earn a FREE BOOK. Teens can earn an awesome fanny pack, and adults will be rewarded with a space-themed reusable book bag.

Summer Reading Tees
Sport one of our summery tees to support the Douglas County Libraries Foundation. Our unisex youth and adult t-shirts are available in limited sizes through adult large for $12 and $15, respectively (plus tax). Visit any DCL branch to buy a shirt in person while supplies last.
